Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reached agreement on the armed incident on the border
Delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan headed by Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Tokon Mamytov and Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Tajikistan Murodali Alimardon held talks in Bishkek on 30-31 January 2014.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues concerning settlement of the situation after an armed incident between military personnel of the two states on January 11, 2014.
The sides reached agreement on withdrawal of additional armed forces sent by the sides at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border after this incident and other concrete measures on settlement of the situation.
Besides, the sides agreed to intensify the work of governmental working groups of the two countries on the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. Moreover, Vice Prime Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed to organize the next meeting in the mid-February this year in the border area.
Accordingly, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reached the agreement on resolving quite the all issues, related to the incident on 11 January 2014 at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, which led to stabilization of the situation at the said border areas.
Following the talks the heads of delegations of the two countries signed a protocol.
